About us

My husband Steve and I have been lucky enough to have brought our lovely daughters up in this beautiful location, as we work from home we are usually around to welcome guests.

Our home West End Farm, was formerly part of the estate belonging to a man named Hugh Sexey 1556-1619, who rose from humble beginnings to become appointed as royal auditor of the Exchequer to Queen Elizabeth I and later King James I. It is possible that an area of the main part of the house is medieval – but mostly it dates to the 16th century!

Our Local Area

Both less than 2 miles away are the villages of Wedmore and Mark.

Wedmore boasts a golf course, various gift shops, a butcher, a fishmonger and grocer, a general store and 2 cafes. It also boasts 3 pubs and an Indian restaurant and famously was the place that in 878AD King Alfred the Great signed the treaty with Guthrum the Dane after Guthrum's defeat at the Battle of Edington.

Wildlife, archaeology and history can be enjoyed in the area, we are between Avalon marches, Shapwick Heath on the Levels and the Mendip hills. Cheddar Gorge is 15 minutes away.

The beautiful city of Wells, the towns of Street, and quirky Glastonbury are all a 20-minute drive away as is the coast and Burnham on Sea which has the Links golf course as well as a much photographed nine-legged wooden lighthouse.
