Nearby villages

Wedmore or Mark both are less than 2 miles away.

Wedmore boasts a golf course, various gift shops, a butcher, a fishmonger and grocer, a general store and 2 cafes. It also boasts 3 pubs and an Indian restaurant. Its claim to fame is that it was the place that in 878AD King Alfred the Great signed the treaty with Guthrum the Dane after Guthrum's defeat at the Battle of Edington.

Mark is in the Guinness book of records for being the longest village in the country, it has 2 pubs and a post office with general store.

Somerset Levels

Take a stroll down our road Fosse Lane, to view our beautiful landscape. Once on the levels with ditches either side, see if you can spot Glastonbury Tor - it’s on the left!

A short drive to visit:

Birds and wildlife on the levels, which can be viewed from lovely walks at RSPB at Ham Wall and Shapwick Heath nature reserve.

Avalon marches centre next to Shapwick Heath will inform you about our wetland landscape and its history. It also has a café and an art gallery.

Mendip Hills

Cheddar Gorge is 15 minutes away, fabulous views of Somerset can be enjoyed from Crook Peak. If you park at Shute Shelf (Kings Wood Car Park National Trust) you can walk along the top of the Mendips to Crook Peak (a site of special scientific interest).

Towns

The beautiful city of Wells with its wonderful cathedral, cobbled streets, the towns of Street for shopping (the home of Clarks shoes), and quirky Glastonbury with the famous Glastonbury Tor and Abbey ruins and of course nearby at the end of June the Glastonbury festival is held.

All a 20-minute drive away.

The coast

Burnham-On-Sea which has the Links golf course as well as a nine-legged wooden lighthouse. Drive through Burnham towards Berrow and then to Brean which has wonderful windswept beaches and sand dunes. It also has a café. There is a lovely walk along Brean down to Brean down Fort (a Victorian naval fortification) with views to the small island of Steep Holm and also Uphill and Weston-Super-Mare.
